You may have noticed that the banner up top has changed names. "Blog-O-Load" is by no means the permanent new title (If you have ideas on that email me!) but I felt like it was time for a change. I really like blogging, contrary to evidence presented herein (although, as that evidence doesn't so much exist...okay, now my head hurts) But I feel like coming up with long winded diatribes is too taxing to my fragile brain. So, I'm moving in a new direction. Long-winded diatribes when the mood strikes, occasional reviews, and more random crap than you can shake a stick at. And hopefully, my fantastic new ability to blog on the go will add to the overall motif of "huh, he still has a blog? Weird." that I'm going for.
First up in my litany of odd that I hope to present on a semi-regular basis, is a fitting entry. I'm back after a long hiatus, and so are the New Kids on the Block. Both of these returns illicit the same response: "seriously, why? Life was moving along apace without you, don't rock the boat." Ah, but who are we to listen. Please enjoy (or try not to laugh too hard) at their video for the new single, which is probably being marketed as a "smash" even though no one's heard it, "Summertime". Warning, what follows features copious partial-Donnie Wahlberg nudity and not nearly enough partial-frankly anyone else nudity.
Welcome back kids!
Serious as a heart attack
--I'm thinking about, in addition to longer entries and reviews (Do y'all even like the reviews? No one comments on them. I want to be a real critic someday so some feedback would be really helpful here), doing smaller "digest" posts with short bits on things in my head. Like the idea? Good, 'cause here's the first one
--My final is Wednesday and, if I pass it and therefore the class, I'll be done with college. Now, desperately need job. Hints on where to begin looking for one?
--Dude, if you're a Sci-Fi dork and you don't watch "Farscape" you are missing out. 14 episodes into season one and I'm already pissed that it was canceled (Luckily I have 3 more seasons and the 4-hour movie to watch before that really sinks in) because it's damn good.
--Comedy Central's new show "The Hollow Men" is really fantastic. It seems to be a British "Kids in the Hall"-esque sketch show but less "out there" and more "dirty". Two words: Anal Lemming.
--I am so poor right now that it's truly sad.
--I really love "Celebrity Fit Club" on VH1. Nick aptly described it as a car accident. It's repulsive and yet I can't look away. If there's a season two of it I would gladly watch on two conditions: Ant must go- he sucks and bothers me to no end, The "psychotherapist" is so touchy-feely that her "science" gets lost and she bugs, and finally Harvey is obnoxious. And, I think Mia Tyler might be wearing high-heeled Uggs.
--Need new job, need more money.
-Holy crap I'm fat. I need to start exercising again. With how gorgeous the weather has been lately I'm sickened with myself and my lifestyle. I'm a lazy, housebound loser. I wish more than almost anything that I was athletic, outdoorsy, and all that goes with it. But, I'm not and at the age of (shudder) 26 I don't know if I ever can be. Especially as when I do go outside, I can't think of a single thing to actually do. How do I totally change my entire life without sacrificing who I am and the things I really do love? Who's with me? And like, sticking to it this time.
--Is it wrong that I really want to see "Ice Princess"? It is? Ok then I'll just be in the corner then.
--The Overstock.com lady's vaguely sexual come ons and porny slogan are really starting to scare me. I will never use the site just because of the commercials.
--Oh, I hate, hate!!!! iTunes. It's the least useful and user-friendly program I've ever used.
Hello all and welcome to the new Infinity Burn Blog on TypePad. Why the change? Well, if you read the archives, you'll see all of my Blogger issues. Frankly, the change needed to come.
Honestly, that's all I have to say at this moment. I've been meaning to post for a while now, and the motivation just hasn't come. Maybe this new format will re-energize me. Who knows?
Comment when you get here and let me know what you think.
First, because absolutely no one demanded it, Ineffectual Whore now has comments! My New Year's Net Resolution is to write more over there so comment away on our televisual ramblings.
Second, and more frightening, Eminem has sampled Martika in his new song "Toy Soldiers" (betcha can't guess which song out of her stunning oeuvre he chose) and it's awful. Her's totally slows down the rhythm of his and his sucks out loud.
Oh, before i forget: I passed two of the three Spanish tests I needed to take. Now I have one class left in college. Or do I? Updates as they happen. And I now (pointlessly)have a MySpace profile. Why? My cousin Kim made me do it. Damn but there are tons of whores on that thing (not my cousin Kim, or Nicole mind you. Just, other whores) and I haven't yet found the actual purpose. It's like Friendster with HTML skills and less actual relevance.
Don't feel like writing an actual update so have some links:
War so isn't awesome: Quickime video, [fake] boy band, laugh riot. [Via]
Specifically for Brian: If only... [Via]
I switched browsers and email clients. No real reason, although I hate pop-ups, spyware and spam. Only took me about an hour to work out all of the kinks too. Plus the product names are Firefox and Thunderbird. I feel like a really geeky Power Ranger.
I got my first NetFlix/GameFly rentals today. Too bad I have to be at work at 7 AM so I can't do anything about them tonight.
Speaking of... Sleep time!
[Edit: (11:15 PM) So I couldn't help playing "StarOcean". Let me just say: SUCKS!!!! So boring, complicated, and pointless. Pretty graphics do not a good game make guys. I honestly might send it back tomorrow. I'm so happy that I didn't spend $49.99 on this crap fest.
Oh and I finally updated my PhotoBlog. Two new pics of severely ugly shoes. Three words: High-heeled moccasins.]
I've added my pithy comments to Courtney's review of NBC's fall lineup. I'm working on CBS. Oh yeah, I'm working it over real good.
Yeah no clue what I'm talking about either
With my wacky schedule this daily update thing is hard to keep up. I usually get home at midnight and then the day has changed and I've already missed an update. I guess that mean I'm breaking my promise, but I can't see it that way. Work is breaking my promise.
Oh whatever, I'm updating a hell of a lot more than I used to so that's at least something.
Sadly, now that I've said all of that I can't think of anything to actually say.
No real update tonight, Way too tired. But read about the new Paris Hilton sex tape at Defamer.
Now, to sleep. Perchance to wake up with a sunny disposition.
I've decided that, at some point, Blogger needs to go. I like having this site, and I do like some of the functionality of Blogger (ie: being able to blog from anywhere) but after The Great Template Chomp of 2004 (which wasn't the first time that had happened)I'm beginning to look elsewhere. The most obvious choice is TypePad but I don't know yet. I'm still researching.
I'm also in the market for new hosting options. LycosTripod (my current host) is great. I have very few complaints. The biggest is that I don't know how much control I have over the structure of my domain. Like, if I ever learned how to put up big-time bells and whistles would their system be able to handle it. In what I've been reading, no.
So here's where the aforementioned "net-ninjas" come in. I need people that can translate computer to plain English to tell me how to move from one host to another (which includes importing all my files and directories to a new place), how to move my blog, and how all of this works. Also, any hints on hosts/blogging options are appreciated. Feel free to email that stuff to me. Let's not take up comment room with, what I'm sure will be, a deluge of replies. Oh, wait. No one EVER responds to the requests for help I post. Whoops! Forgot.
C'mon guys 'n gals, help me out here if you know something.
OTHER NEWS
--I've put "X-Men Legends" on hold for a bit and gone back to "Ratchet & Clank". Luckily I beat the part I've been stuck at for months. "Legends" is a great game, but currently it's killing me like crazy. There's this one point where your entire team has very little power left and then 7,000,000,000,000,000 enemies come out of nowhere and swarm you like ants attacking a sugar cube. within one minute I die. So, that game is on hold and I'm moving onto something that I may have a shot at gaining some ground on.
--I applied for graduation yesterday. If all goes as planned, I'll have a degree in March 2005. Now, I just have to pass all of my classes. Which is hard because I missed class the past two days. Oh well, I just have a paper due on Monday and haven't started it yet. Whoops!
Off to work
